GENERAL AFFIDAVIT
State of Michigan, County of Macomb, ss:
In the matter of the application for pension of Esther Pennington widow of James Pennington co. "G" 9th Regt. NY Vol Cav. on this day of May 31st, AD 1904, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, Fidelia Bates ages ___ years, a resident of Romeo in the County of Macomb and State of Mich whose Post Office address is Romeo, Mich.

I have been well and personally acquainted with Esther and James Pennington for ____ years, and that  I have known the claimant, Esther Pennington - widow of James Pennington the soldier - ever since she was a young girl and I know she had never been married prior to her marriage to James Pennington the soldier, Feb. 12, 1857.  This affiant further says she was personally and intimately acquainted with James Pennington - the soldier, when he was a young man, and know that he was not previously married before he married Esther Pennington - the claimant on Feb. 12, 1857.

This is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.
